SUMMARY:Visual Storytelling Essentials
DESCRIPTION:This free workshop will teach participants to take photos and videos that they can use to show the beauty of their research through their own eyes. This interactive course will be taught by two of UMaine’s top visual media experts\, Adam Küykendall and Ron Lisnet. During Visual Storytelling Essentials\, participants will learn: \n\nHow to set the stage.\nKeys to composition.\nHow to start to harness the power of light. \nHow to curate a mix of images that will help you tell a story. \n\nParticipants should be prepared to share a few of their favorite photos or short video clips. Ideally\, participants will bring at least one example they took\, and one example taken by someone else. Print or digital copies are welcome.  \nThis course is primarily designed for student researchers but all members of the UMaine community are welcome. Advance registration is required and available online. To request an accessibility accommodation\, note your needs in the RSVP form or email erin.miller@maine.edu. \nThis is the first of a series of science communication workshops offered by the College of Natural Sciences\, Forestry\, and Agriculture. The series is designed to foster savvy communication skills among students\, faculty and staff that they can use in their personal and professional lives.
