Council Membership

The Council will consist of professional staff, classified staff, and postdocs.  The goal is to have representation from each of the eleven units in the college.

  • Qualifications:
    • Six-months prior employment in the University of Maine System
    • Must be a College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences College employee

Terms

The terms are for one year and they will follow the academic year September – May.  Council members may elect to serve an additional one-year term at their discretion.

The current (second) term will run from September 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.
The initial term ran from September 1, 2022 to May 31, 2024.

Vacancies

If a member resigns before the end of their current term, all efforts will be made to fill that vacancy with a representative from the same School or Department.  The new member will serve out the remainder of the vacated term and is eligible to serve an additional one-year term.

Removal

Representatives may be removed for failure to participate as outlined in this document or failure to notify the chair of absences.  The full committee shall periodically review attendance/council member requirements and may contact absentee members to discuss participation.  Removal requires a majority vote of the remaining council members.  The secretary shall send a written notice to the removed member.
