Maine Forest Products Council highlights forestry enrollment growth
Student interest in the University of Maine’s School of Forest Resources is growing, and industry stakeholders are starting to take notice. The Maine Forest Products Council highlighted student enrollment growth in their the November newsletter, where it reported that undergraduate enrollment in forestry has doubled since 2008.
Of the 31 students in the 2016 incoming class, 84 percent are from out of state and most are from New England. The School of Forest Resources also offers undergraduate programs in parks, recreation and tourism as well as forest operations, bioproducts, and bioenergy.
